ABSTRACT
This article presents information on the documentary film "The Fog of War," directed Errol Morris. As an illustration of how broad the boundaries governing the documentary film are, "The Fog of War" becomes available on DVD just as the film "Fahrenheit 9/11" arrives in cinemas. To compare Michael Moore and Errol Morris — who have won the Academy Award for Best Documentary in consecutive years — is to contrast night and day, they're the rabble-rousing populist and perceptive analyst, respectively. "The Fog of War" is an extended sparring match, as the ageing but forthright Robert S. McNamara discusses the mistakes made during the Vietnam War and tries to cement his standing as history.
