ABSTRACT
This study examines the efficiency of the market for wagers on Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) games in the U.S. Like many previous researchers who have investigated the sports-betting market, the authors have uncovered favorable trends but no legitimate inefficiencies. Second-half-of-the-season WNBA favorites both overall and home distinguished themselves during the 2000-2002 period and, in the absence of statistical testing, served as the bases for prudent betting strategies.
