This article reports that Sharp has announced the next generation of multi-functional copier printers with the introduction of the AR-M550 and AR-M620, suitable for large workgroups. Replacing the AR-507 and AR-651, the two new modular devices offer more flexibility in printing and an array of paper finishing capabilities, electronic document management packages and technical support tools that can be configured to grow in line with individual business requirements. In instances where particularly large jobs are subject to urgent deadlines, the network tandem feature can be applied which doubles output speeds to 124 pages per minute by running two devices on the same network and sharing the load between them. The scanning option also supports Lightweight Directory Access Protocol, which displays email addresses on the front panel display of AR-M, allowing users to conveniently access any email addresses held in the global network address book. The Kerberos network authentication protocol is also incorporated, allowing the network administrator total sight and control of who has permission to send scanned information from the products across the company network. The AL-1566 is priced at £949.
