Government employees in the United Arab Emirates can now obtain the International Computer Driving License (ICDL). The country's General Information Authority has become an accredited ICDL centre for training and testing IT skills. The body is trying to encourage government departments to take advantage of the scheme and advising them on their training requirements. "It is important that government employees, as a minimum requirement, are able to use a computer and the basic office applications," said Mohammed Ismail, the authority's director of training and research.
