ABSTRACT
The author, in this article, shares his IT experiences. He has just completed his IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) qualification and is awaiting his exam results with fingers crossed. Once He has had a chance to catch his breath and put his new skills into practice, he'll consider how best to continue his professional development. Visual learners think in pictures and prefer diagrams, videos and flipcharts and like to take notes. Auditory learners are keen to talk things through, listen to the material, welcome input from others and read text aloud. Tactile learners learn by doing, and favour hands-on practice and exercises. During his ITIL study, the author assessed all the course material first to gauge the gaps in his knowledge, before focusing his study where it was needed most. This self-directed approach lends itself to independent learners, both at work and at home. But there are assessment tools to help trainers aid less self-sufficient souls to clarify their natural predilections.
