ABSTRACT
This article focuses on the book "The River Nile in the Age of the British. Political Ecology and the Quest for Economic Power," written by Terje Tvedt. The dramatic story of Nile politics and Nile control in the 20th century, the period of European imperialism, technological optimism and rapid advances in hydrological science, is the topic of this study. The Nile has intrigued historians and poets since the days of the Pharaohs. Today the importance of the Nile is greater than ever. More than 300m people look to the river for drinking water for themselves and their animals, for irrigation of their crops, as a source of power and as an object of cultural veneration and pride.
