My daughter has walked away from me - and I'm heartbroken

Q My 35-year-old daughter won't speak to me. I suffered from physical and emotional abuse throughout my childhood and ended up marrying a man I hated, as he threatened to hunt me down if I didn't. After 15 terrifying years, in which we had two children, I managed to escape with them to a Women's Aid shelter. I was traumatised and my daughter had to look after me when she was far too young. But as she went through adolescence, she had severe bouts of anger and arguments became very nasty. I was scared of her and would give in to her moods. She lashed out and said I was a terrible mother. My friends say she is a narcissist and a tyrant. Two years ago, I married a lovely, caring man. However, on the eve of our wedding, my daughter caused such distress that I was forced to call the police who put her in a cell for the night. I had no option and asked her not to come to our wedding for fear of her moods and arguments, especially when she is drinking (she abuses alcohol). She hasn't spoken to me since, despite me contacting her many times in person and by letter. My son tried to help but she says she no longer wants to be part of the family. I am distraught. I didn't speak to my mother for 15 years as I blamed her for abusing me as a child. I am so scared of history repeating itself.
