ABSTRACT
This article presents information on Dallas, Texas. Settled in 1841 by a Tennessee lawyer and entrepreneur named John Neely Bryan, Dallas began as a small trading post encompassing only about 640 acres. Bolstered by the arrival of railroads in 1870's; the establishment of the Federal Reserve Bank and Southern Methodist University in early 1900's; a major airport, Dallas Love Field; and several other significant events and entrepreneurial endeavors, Dallas continued to expand. Today the Dallas/Fort Worth metropolitan area spans nearly 384 square miles
