E-Book Sales Surge In First Quarter

E-book units sold for the first quarter of the year 2004 ended March 31 were up 46% to 421,955 compared to the first quarter of 2003, and sales climbed 28% to $3.23 million, according to the Open E-book Forum (OEBF) quarterly statistics report. OEBF is a trade and standards organization dedicated to the development and promotion of electronic publishing. The OEBF's e-book bestseller list for May was led by Dan Brown's "The Da Vinci Code," for the third straight month. Kevin Ryan's "Van Helsing," Brown's "Angels & Demons," "The Da Vinci Code: Fact or Fiction," by Hank Hanegraaff and Ian Caldwell and Dustin Thomason's "The Rule of Four," rounded out the top-ranked e-books on the list.
