ABSTRACT
Argues that U.S. presidential candidate John Kerry should choose New York attorney general Eliot Spitzer as his running mate. Discussion of the qualities of a number of potential running mates mentioned in the press, including John Lewis, Chuck Hagel, George Mitchell, Wesley Clark, Dick Gephardt and John Edwards; Comparison between Spitzer and President Theodore Roosevelt, who aimed to mute the natural avarice of capitalism; Claim that Spitzer has undertaken the job of restoring the trust that has been betrayed by investment bankers and corporations; Claim that Spitzer has become a popular hero through waging specific and winnable legal battles against corporate criminality; Discussion of Spitzer's strengths and weaknesses as a vice-presidential candidate.
