ABSTRACT
Although liver transplantation (LT) for hepcitocellular carcinoma (HCC) can be curative a 25 percent recurrence by 5 years is limiting. This article cites a study conducted to evaluate predictive factors for HCC recurrence after LT. Results of the study show that only size of the largest tumour nodule in explants, independent of the total number, had prognostic significance for recurrence after orthotopic LT. If the extension of the Milan criteria are justified, this could be greater than 3 nodules and less than 2.5-3 cm.
