ABSTRACT
Methotrexate (MIX) is increasingly being used in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) patients who are resistant or intolerant of azathioprine. However the failure rate and incidence of side effects are both significant. MIX influences the activity of MTHFR, one of the enzymes in the Elate pathway. C677T and Cl 298C MTHFR gene polymorphism does not predict toxicity or efficacy of MIX in IBD patients.
