ABSTRACT
The article studies the generation of interleukin (IL)-1 receptor antagonist, IL-10, soluble tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α receptors during adsorptive granulocyte and monocyte apheresis (GMA) treatment of patients with active ulcerative colitis. The aim was to see if GMA changes the plasma levels of substances which might exert anti-inflammatory effects. The study revealed that the major sources of IL-1, IL-10, TNF-α receptors are believed to be adsorbed monocytes and neutrophils to the column carries.
