ABSTRACT
The article presents a study "Co-ordinated Regulation of the Tumor Suppressor Gene P16 by &b.beta;-Catenin-Lef-1 and the ETS Transcription Family" conducted by researchers C. Murphy, M. El-Tanani and F.C Campbell. Cyclin dependent kinase inhibitor p16 is implicated in tumorigenesis and plays a central role in cancer of colitis. The p16 promoter sequence contains two for the Ets family of transcription factors. This study tests the hypothesis that the Ets transcription factor family synergises with &b.beta;-catenin/Lef-1 in the regulation of p16 transcription.
