ABSTRACT
This article focuses on a study related to early linear endoscopic ultrasound and fine needle aspiration experience in a district general hospital. Linear endoscopic ultrasound with fine needle aspiration cytology (FNA) is a relatively new modality of gastrointestinal investigation of limited availability in Great Britain. Although the service was rapidly established resulting in a major referral rate, the difficult operator learning curve resulted in a 10% complication rate related to FNA in the first year, while there were no complications in the second year.

Background: Diagnosis of pancreatic lesions can be accurately performed by endoscopic ultrasound guided fine needle aspiration (EUS-FNA) with onsite cytopathologists to assess specimen adequacy and to determine a preliminary diagnosis. OBJECTIVES:A large-caliber needle such as a 19-gauge needle may help overcome the limitations of a 22-gauge needle by acquiring a larger amount of tissue sample. Abstract  The indications and uses of endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) are expanding. The role of EUS-guided fine needle aspiration (EUS-FNA) is considered an essential aspect of EUS practice. A significant change in the indications and technology used for EUS has occurred. This study was...

Introduction Fine-needle aspiration (FNA) is a well-established technique to obtain cytological specimens, but it does not permit the extraction of histological tissue-core samples, which, if available, may increase the yield and accuracy of the histopathological diagnosis. This prospective...
