ABSTRACT
Presents a response to a comment on the article "A Critical Examination of the P-h2 Relationship in Nanoindentation." Definition of an axisymmetric punch as a function of the power law exponent of the unloading curve; Consequences of the complex elastic/plastic deformation occuring at the indentation; Values used to calculate the contact stiffness.

Extending tor>1 a formula of the authors, we compute the expected reflection distance of a product oftrandom reflections in the complex reflection groupG(r, 1,n). The construction of the universal ring of Witt vectors is related to Lazard's factorizations of free monoids by means of a noncommutative analogue. This is done by associating to a code a specialization of noncommutative symmetric functions.
