Oil giant Chevron Texaco Corp. will raise its Texaco red star this summer after a three-year hiatus. On July 1, the company will begin selling gasoline under the Texaco retail brand. As part of the 2001 merger with Chevron, Texaco, a 100-year-old brand, was forced by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission to divest control of the brand licensing until that date. The five-pointed red star logo, inspired by the Texas state flag, will fall back into the hands of ChevronTexaco and branch out to retail marketers representing more than 1,500 gasoline stations across the South and southeastern United States.
