The Palestinian Intifada, an episode of unsurpassed violence in the Arab-Israeli conflict, has passed a new milestone — the emergence of the youngest teenage suicide bomber. On March, 2004 Israeli soldiers at the Harawa checkpoint south of Nablus in the West Bank arrested a 16 year-old Palestinian boy, Husam Abdo, with a "suicide belt" containing 8kg of explosives strapped around his waist. The boy, who lives in Nablus, panicked when alert soldiers challenged him and surrendered. He was the youngest Palestinian involved in a planned suicide operation.
