ABSTRACT
Qinetiq Ltd. has launched what it claims is the first ever commercially available high resolution towed synthetic aperture sonar. Qinetiq says its speed, efficiency and high resolution capability meet the demands of the marine surveying community. The system offers excellent resolutions for identifying and classifying objects and seabed features, combined with good coverage rate. It says the hardware is 10 years ahead of conventional technology and as Qinetiq's research develops, software upgrades will become available.
