The article presents an overview of topics to be discussed at the Institute of Logistics and Transportation Convention in ExCeL in London, England on June 8 and 9, 2004. Following the opening of the convention and plenary keynote speech, delegates will be able to choose to attend one of the first two-tracks of the convention. J. P. Murtagh, director of global procurement and outsourcing at Waterford Wedgwood, will present the opening keynote of the Global Sourcing and Manufacturing--Sustainable Supply and Profitability track. At the same time, Alan McKinnon, professor of logistics at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland, will present the opening keynote within the Transport--The Critical Element Track. He will address the fact that freight transport trends in Great Britain have been fairly predictable. His presentation will review trends, drawing on the results of several research projects and speculating on the state of the British freight sector in 2010. Another guest speaker John Gattorna, professor of supply-chain management at Sydney Business School, will discuss the successful alignment in corporate supply-chains between customers, suppliers, and third-party providers.
