ABSTRACT
This article presents various related to hypoxia and lung vasculature. The cause of altitude disease remain unclear, even more obscure is why some individuals perform better at altitude than others. The increased minute ventilation and alveolar ventilation, as demonstarted by the greater decrease in ET carbon dioxide has the potential to improve alveolar hypoxia and reduce hypoxic pulmonary vasoconstriction at altitude. Increased systemic levels of cytokines and prostanoids that regulate vascular tone and remodelling have been reported in pulmonary hypertension.
