ExxonMobil Corp. has opened its 1,000th On the Run convenience store in Elmira, New York, in a facility operated by Petr-All Petroleum Consulting Corp. The On the Run brand began as a pre-merger backcourt brand concept that ExxonMobil had been developing, with the first store opening in 1994. "This is a great milestone for the On the Run franchise," said Mark M. Shores, retail sales director for ExxonMobil in the U.S. When the two companies came together in 2000, ExxonMobil began pursuing On the Run as a worldwide c-store brand for both the Exxon and Mobil gasoline offers. With a larger retail footprint and an enhanced product offering, On the Run has distinguished itself as the flagship brand for ExxonMobil.
