ABSTRACT
This article reports on the meeting of the Institute of Management Services' (IMS) Council of Management held at Stowe House in Netherstowe, Lichfield on January 23, 2004. Prior to commencing the formal agenda items, the chairman, John Lucey, introduced an additional matter. He awarded three IMS members the Honorary Fellowship certificates. The recipients were Harry Downes, John Heap and David Blanchflower. Although no written report was available, the treasurer gave a detailed verbal report of the financial situation. Vivienne Phillips provided Council members with an update of the current membership figures and Dick Bridges produced a list of the membership by age. Phillips also gave a report on the total numbers of examination students and income for 2002/2003. Dennis Whitmore provided a comprehensive report on the status of the institute's current education system. The Web site report, submitted by John Heap, contained background, strengths and weaknesses of the institute's current Web site, together with comments, potential staffing needs, possible Web site link details, tools, tips and techniques, brief introductions to productivity improvement tools, a diary of events, and other topics.
