ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the children's play "The Clever Wife," by Pat Betteley. The play is based on a Kyrgyz tale. The play features the an old Khan named Sarybay, who was about to die and leave no heirs to his throne. The people begged him to choose a new khan for them. Sarbay told his people to let his faithful white falcon go on the fourth day after his death. He will land on someone's head. That person should be their khan.
