ABSTRACT
Cable television company Canal Plus Group of France and France Telecom Inc. have announced that they have signed a memorandum of understanding to combine their Gallic cable interests in an entity with 1 .7 million subscribers. The move comes less than a week after John Malone's UnitedGlobalCom Inc. announced it would buy Noos, France's biggest cable network, with 1.1 million subscribers. Aim of the memorandum, valid until December 2004, is to prep their combined assets for sale to a new majority shareholder, the two companies.
