ABSTRACT
When a big American broking house finally decides a one-time penny dreadful oil explorer is worth covering, it definitely has something going for it. The big American broking house Smith Barney Inc. provided a coming-of-age of sorts for Hardman Resources last week, as of February 17, 2004, when it condescended to initiate coverage of the Perth-based oil explorer. It's history now that in the late 1990s, Hardman's resourceful managing director, geologist Ted Ellyard, led the charge to acquire a vast offshore area of nearly 70,000 square kilometres along 540 km of the Mauritanian coast. Last week, Hardman announced the completion of the pro-rata purchase of ENI-Agip's interest in production sharing contract licences over blocks A and B, those containing the three oil discoveries so far made by the Woodside consortium.
