ABSTRACT
IMI PLC, the engineering group of Birmingham, Great Britain wants to further boost its presence in the fast-growing industrial economies of China and Eastern Europe after its restructuring phase, which is more or less complete. The three year flurry of activity has left the company unrecognizable from the IMI of the late 1990s, when it had a widely scattered range of activities, including construction and copper fittings. The group whose activities span pneumatics, severe service valves and merchandising systems, including drinks dispensers, is also looking to buy more businesses after spending 62 million on acquisition last year.
