ABSTRACT
According to a report by the Royal Academy of Engineering in Great Britain, electricity from offshore windfarms will cost at least twice as much as power from conventional sources including nuclear. The latest study seeks to achieve a "level playing field" by comparing the costs of generating electricity from a range of new plants using different technologies. Environmental groups have characterized the battle of wind versus atomic energy as an unequal fight due to the amount of public subsidy that has gone into the development of nuclear power.
