ABSTRACT
An ultrasound technology has been developed in Great Britain, to detect cracks in metal and composite plane components. This technology uses an ultrasound device to detect potentially dangerous cracks in composite and metal aircraft components, including wheels and turbine blades. The technology, which could also be used to detect faults in components within structures such as ships and nuclear power plants, is being developed at the Research Center in Nondestructive Evaluation, based at Imperial College in London, England.
