ABSTRACT
Electric circuits can now bend and stretch like rubber, courtesy a method developed by a team from the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. The team has developed a technique in which an electric current is passed along several parallel gold wires, each a few microns wide. These wires were made by electroplating gold on to a sheet of silver, surrounding the gold with a stretchy polymer and then stripping the silver. This technique also shows some promise for the production of artificial nerves, rubbery needles or wearable electronics.
