ABSTRACT
Five- and six-year-olds are at a transitional stage. They show some of the egocentric behavior they had in preschool, but they also have an awareness of what's fair for others. Kindergartners are beginning to think beyond themselves in difficult situations and, when asked to, can reflect on another child's perspective. Feelings of possessiveness and entitlement may run strong, but children of this age are also developmentally mature enough to deal with these feelings through observation and discussion.
