ABSTRACT
Bayer AG's chemicals operation, which is scheduled to be floated on the stock market next year, will be named Lanxess after the company considered nearly 3,700 suggestions, 1,200 of them from employees. Bayer will decide around the middle of this year whether Lanxess, which will have sales of around 6 billion, will be spun off to shareholders or be the subject of an initial public offering (IPO). The prospect of an IPO prompted an impairment review of all Bayer's operations in polymers, health care, crop protection and chemicals.
