ABSTRACT
The article discusses the investigation, litigation, and indictment of Walker Martin of Texas for the murder of his business associate, P. A. Doggett, in February 1858. Topics explored include the headline of John H. Thomas' news report of the said crime in the February 13, 1858 issue of the "Dallas Herald" newspaper, the witness testimony offered by 14-year-old John Newman on the case, and the life of Martin during his murder indictment.
