ABSTRACT
As part of its efforts to develop tomorrow's leaders of sea services, Naval Institute each year sponsors Naval Institute Forum Award for Naval Reserve Officer's Training Corps' midshipmen. Two juniors, one Navy and one Marine Corps of the U.S., are selected based on their short written answers to a thought-provoking question on leadership. For 2003, the question was related to the choice of career in military. Views on the subject, of Midshipman Brian Donovan, from University of Texas at Austin Navy-bound and midshipman Michael D. Thouvenin, from Ohio State University at Marine Corps-bound, are also published in the article.
