ABSTRACT
The Banbury and Oxford Branch held it's annual general meeting on May 15, 1980 at Oxford Airport, Thames Water premises. Special guest was Ron Whitley, chairman of the specialist groups and delegate for the southern region. The branch chairman Bernard Laplace opened the meeting with a strong attack on branch member's lack of response to successive board's efforts over recent years. Following the treasurers report, the branch PRO Stephen Paine, reaffirmed the objectives of the board and underlined how publicity from local press and radio is essential to meet those objectives. Rob Whitley encouraged the members present to continue their efforts in establishing an active branch and spoke of the benefits of having a local branch with which to improve the status of the members. It was with regret that, due to other commitments, the board have accepted the resignation of the branch secretary, Roger Clarke, who for three years has been one of the mainstays of the branch.
