ABSTRACT
This article presents information on the ORT82G5 Field Programmable System-on-a-Chip developed by Lattice Semiconductor. The device has demonstrated the ability to pass error-free data at 4.25 Gigabits/second across 6 inches of coaxial cable, making it the first 4G Fibre Channel-based backplane transceiver in production. It includes 4 SERDES channels that run at over 4.3Gbps, an embedded Fibre Channel Physical Coding Sublayer core and over 10,000 programmable logic elements. It also features 372 general purpose programmable input/output pins supporting a variety of advanced interface standards.
