ABSTRACT
DTI, CBI and Touche Ross & Co. have collaborated on the DTI's new guide to knowledge based systems, an interesting and informative package starting from basics and taking the reader into applications ideas and benefits. Knowledge based systems-expert systems do more than just store information, they use it to reason with and arrive at new information and perform simple tasks that require an act of decisionmaking based on that knowledge. Barclaycard use them to detect fraud, ICL use them to make new circuit boards. One can read it in the booklets Knowledge Based Systems - 'Working for British Business' and `Survey of UK Applications' from any office of the DTI.
