ABSTRACT
This article presents information on car dealing business. According to Bill Olander, co-owner of a suburban electrical contracting company, one has to be really sharp to survive in car dealing business. The highest markup Olander has seen is 5%, as of February 9, 2004. It is usually more like 1% or 2% sometimes. Business owners may spend more, if they are convinced the dealership will provide quick maintenance and is paying attention to their needs. Pat Dougherty, director of small business fleet sales for DaimlerChrysler AG in Detroit, estimates that dealers see a 1%-to-2% profit margin on fleet sales to entrepreneurs.
