ABSTRACT
Reports market forecaster JD Power - LMC Automotive's prediction of failure of European OEMs to fulfill their emission targets. Increase in carbon dioxide emissions figures according to the survey results at the end of 2003; Prediction of slow progress further in 2005; Failure of gasoline direct injection (GDI) technology in case of petrol engines according to Alastair Bedwell, LMC manager; High cost of GDI, lack of sulphur-free fuel, booming sales of SUVs and luxury cars and growth of the small car segment being responsible for the present situation.
