ABSTRACT
This article focuses on the use of enterprise resource planning (ERP) computer softwares. The author of this article believes that what we have today is a much more realistic approach in offering ERP as an evolutionary rather than revolutionary solution, though still with a credibility gap to close with its customers. ERP suppliers are continually extending their functionality particularly now in industry-specific areas, acknowledging that a single-version package offering would either be insufficiently applicable or have to offer so many options as to be totally confusing to users. The typical customer uses ERP for core business functions where more commonality of application exists between businesses.
