ABSTRACT
This article reports on the visit paid by a group of members of the Freight Transport Special Interest Group of the Institute of Logistics and Transport to the Global Integrated Logistics Center of the Fritz Group. Presentations were made by steering group member Colin Astbury, Peter Ward and Simon Collett. Colin Astbury described how the Laura Ashley, one of the Fritz Group's leading third-party logistics clients, started off as a cottage industry and went into a Europe-wide retailer with 250 stores and a global franchise partnership with over 25 stores. Peter Ward described how the Fritz Group moved into supply chain management. Simon Collett outlined how a chartered surveyor's practice specializing in the provision of project management services, can develop a dedicated scheme to meet client's needs.
