ABSTRACT
This article is the 12th in a series of articles looking at key aspects of career management and development. The importance of networking for your career progression is constantly emphasized. This process is especially relevant in managing one's career development. So how can a professional in the logistics and transport sector must go about networking? This article enumerates several ways of doing so. One must develop a database of contacts. Be systematic and keep records of all new contacts. Get out and about and meet new people by going to branch meetings of the Institute of Logistics and Transport. Use networking as a learning experience. Networking should be mutually beneficial. At meetings and gatherings, work the room. It is a good way of developing one's communication skills.
