ABSTRACT
The article presents information about how parents can learn about their child's growth by looking at their progression in school. A photograph of a block building demonstrates a child's skill in planning and balancing and also shows his developing spatial awareness. A painting shows movement of line and choice of color. A drawing shows the emergence of small-motor control, which is necessary for writing. Efforts at making letters or writing names indicate an awareness of the meaning of printed text.
