ABSTRACT
The essential idea of the principle of material frame-indifference - that material properties are frame indifferent, or constitutive functions are form invariant relative to change of observers - has been disputed recently by Murdoch in [1, 2] by the claim that the standard restrictions on constitutive functions can be deduced by purely objective considerations, without the requirement of form-invariance of the constitutive functions. The purpose of this paper is to show that such a claim is groundless by pointing out blunders in the specious proofs and by presenting counter-examples.

We investigate both geometric and conformal field theoretic aspects of mirror symmetry on N=(4,4) superconformal field theories with central charge c=6. Our approach enables us to determine the action of mirror symmetry on (non-stable) singular fibers in elliptic fibrations of ZN orbifold limits...

Inhomogeneous magnetoelectric coupling in a simple Pb(Zr,Ti)O3/Terfenol-D laminate composite is investigated. Four magnetic-field-induced voltage (MIV) and three electric-field-induced magnetization (EIM) resonance frequencies are caused by magnetomechanical and electromechanical resonances. The...

We construct four different real representations of the minimal vector clover extension and their covariant derivatives. We determine their relation to the basic representation and initiate the exploration of constrained superfields.

We construct a differential representation and covariant derivatives of the minimal vector clover extension of the Poincaré algebra. In analogous way as in the supersymmetric case, there arises an enhanced superspace which allows to define superfields. The action of group transformations on...

It indicates that crystals have the most salient form of condensed-matter physics. Moreover, it states that the complete set...
