ABSTRACT
This article reports that Great Britain's transport minister Keith Hill believes that the independent report on the future of regional Eurostar services will provide the basis for considering a strategy for international services. He was responding to the publication of the report Review of Regional Eurostar Services, which was commissioned by the Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions in June 1999. He believes that this assessment of regional Eurostar services will now be considered by the British Railways Board in its review of regional international services. He announced that regional passengers will get some immediate benefits from the investment that has been made in regional Eurostar trains. He is approving the plan of the Eurostar to lease some of the regional trains for three years.
