ABSTRACT
Presents information on the influence of German painter Hans Hofmann on the art movement. Comment on the abstract expressionism and minimal art modes of painting; Reference to the book "Search for the Real"; Distinction between the space of illusion and the use of the phrase "picture space"; Statement that a real flat surface and the illusion of movement in space can coexist; Information that the Cubist affirmation of the prime reality of the flat surface was subsequently codified by both Hofmann and Joseph Albers, a painter, as academic dogma.
