ABSTRACT
The basic prerequisites for awareness and expression of a child's individuality are the adult's labeling, acceptance, and support of the child's emotional expressions. The author argues that an individual's manifestation of his own individuality is a creative act. Thus, the role of the adult in the development of a child's creative potential is to foster the emotional self-expression of the child's individuality. The author understands creativity as a person's realization of his own individuality. In turn, the author considers a person's emotional reactions and states to be a self-sufficient expression of his individuality. To develop creativity, one must deal with emotional content. The author proposes that the fundamental principle for developing creative potential should be the principal of transforming cognitive content into emotional content.
