This article focuses on the emergence of Apple Computer Inc.'s iTunes Music Store as new sales channel for audio books. Apple Computer claims that iTunes currently stores more than 5,000 audio book titles, with prices ranging from $2.95 to $15.95 per title. Apple's iTunes Music Store and iPod device allows consumers to read page-turners without turning a page. All music and audio content on the iTunes Music Store is encoded in the industry standard AAC audio format at 128 kilobits per second, which enables smaller files and faster download times while rivaling CD-quality sound.
