Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW) in northeastern Minnesota is a large network of lakes and streams located along the border between Minnesota and Canada. Canoeists from near and far flock to the BWCAW for its peace and natural beauty. Great Lakes Aquarium in Duluth is the first all-freshwater aquarium in the United States. The aquarium displays Great Lakes wildlife in natural habitat exhibits. Historic Fort Snelling in Saint Paul was built in the 1820s where the Mississippi and Minnesota Rivers meet, Fort Snelling has been restored to its appearance in 1827.
