The construction of the membership access area on the Web site of the Institute of Logistics and Transport is the main focus of this article. Members can gain access to the members only section by typing in their membership number and surname or postcode. The initiative focuses on the online library catalog, which in itself has already generated great interest and substantially increased usage. members can access the library catalog through the new members only area on the Web site. This bank of information contains over 19,000 journal articles, more than 8,000 books and 4,000 sector-specific pamphlets. The institute has also purchased the Lexis Nexis news and company information databases for the benefit of all members. Lexis Nexis is the leading European online provider of business information. This resource tool is available through the Library and Information Service of the institute.
